Chord Explorer is an innovative tool that helps individuals learn how to play guitar and intuitively expand their repertoire. The app is a single page web interface where users can search through a database of over 43,000 songs by the chords present in the song. Registered users may also save chords that they know and the application will suggest, based on those saved chords and chord frequency of occurrence, a new chord that the user should learn.
The site utilizes Javascript, JQuery and AJAX for much of the functionality. It is built using Ruby on Rails and the database was collected using Anemone and the Guitar Party API. The app uses Bootstrap in addition to custom CSS styling, the Chords.io for rendering the chords, and Kaminari for pagination.
